ARTIST SPOTLIGHT - BRANDEN STEINECKERT & BRIAN PATCHETT

Branden Steineckert and Brian Patchett formed their band Apocalypse Radio in 2000. They originally recorded their songs on an 8-Track digital recorder. Branden would play a drum track, then Brian would play the bass track, then Branden would play his guitar parts and a couple leads, Brian would record his guitar parts, solos and leads…topped off by both guys singing. They released their D.I.Y record in 2001 and played a handful of shows but things slowed down as Branden and Brian both had other projects going on. Branden’s other band The Used made their debut album and Brian later joined the band Broke, toured and made a record as well. Branden is now the full time drummer of Rancid. In 2010 the two came together again in their free time to write and record a brand new self titled Apocalypse Radio album all on their own again. But this time they didn’t record it on an 8 track. The album was recorded at Brandens studio in Orem, UT: Unknown Studios (where the latest Rancid record “Let The Dominoes Fall” was written and demos were recorded). No labels, no management, no budget, no rules, no expectations. Just 2 small town guys recording what ever they want because it felt good and was sincere. Q & A With Steve

Steve Clayton

What inspired you to start Steve Clayton Inc.?

I started out in the guitar slide business however when a competitor moved in on my slide business it pushed me to expand in the pick direction. I knew it had to be something that would be successful and would last long term. I decided to sit down and come up with a list of what would be necessary for this to be successful. My list was the following:

-It had to be non-perishable.

-Had to be small, because I did not have warehouse room at the time.

-Had to already have an in place structure for distribution.

-Had to be a consumable product meaning the same person would buy it more then once.

This list led me to guitar picks.

Who is the most famous person you’ve met?

I use to be a concert promoter so I met quite a few famous people. Some artists I’ve worked with are Tower of Power, Cheech and Chong, Steve Miller, The Lovin’ Spoonfuls, Kyle Gass, Kenny Loggins, Playmates of the Year, Gene Simmons. The most famous well-known man I’ve had the opportunity to meet was John Sebastian.

This is great you will be sure to find a multiples of picks so that once you find one you like and lose it you can just get another, and for the price what guitarist wouldn't like this deal.” – Steven Kenney

“This pack is really good if you play a wide range of music or you have friends that you play music with often and they never bring picks.” – Luke J.
